Have you ever heard yourself asking that question when something goes totally wrong in your life? It is a question born of desperation, a response to the need for someone to blame. Obviously, you’re innocent of any wrongdoing that would warrant such punishment. Right? So God is wrong and you are as pure as the driven snow. If you’re a Christian you’ve heard a gospel presentation or two. Among the Roman Road pamphlet’s Bible passages are Romans 3:23 “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” and Romans 3:10-11 “as it is written, ‘There is none righteous, not even one11 There is none who understands, There is none who seeks for God.'” For Christians, of course, all that is old hat; you may have heard it a thousand times in Sunday school. But another passage—not in Romans—brings the idea home to us: 1 John 1:8-10 “If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us.” Apostle John directed that assault toward first century believers. You know, the ones who suffered persecution for their faith. If they were sinners, what does that make you? And if you’re angry with God for your troubles, that means you are judging Him for His unrighteous judgment. That, my friend, is blasphemy, pure and simple. God doesn’t need defending, but one Bible passage lays out an apt comparison between God and us: Isaiah 55:8-9 8 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord. 9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts than your thoughts. Oh, yeah. There’s also Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Care to rethink your question?

  1. The enemy is counting on us to net get over our devastation and to be so caught up in our circumstances that we are trapped in the “how could you let this happen”. Just a thought.

  2. What is needed Jim is for those who don’t understand the meaning of 1 John 1:8-10 is for them to read it in context and as shown when sin we are in darkness, we are not Born Again which means we are not in fellowship with God but not saying we won’t be if we are known by Him as His own and if we are we will put our carnal flesh to death by the Spirit that causes us to sin and aim to be perfected in Love but until we are Perfected, Jesus is our Advocate and He has set us free from the Slavery of sin so we can be conformed into His image and walk as He did, and not just when we die but now.

John 8:34-36 Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

1 John 3:9 No one who is Born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been Born of God.

1 John 5:18-20 We know that no one who is Born of God sins; but He who was Born of God keeps him, and the evil one does not touch him.

Romans 8 :12-15 Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation—but it is not to the sinful nature, to live according to it. or if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.

1 John 3: 1-11 ( 6-7 ) Whosoever abideth in Him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen Him, neither known Him. Little children, let no man/woman deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as He is righteous.

We may never know Jim how God creates a tree let alone us but we can know God’s good will for us as we see below in 1Corinthians2:9-16, what would help those who don’t understand God’s Truth, is if they asked for His wisdom and empowering and believed they received them and not doubt that they have, we are not Born with them and Jesus tells us we ask to receive. In the Old Testament Pentecost had not come but wonderfully it has now…How good is that!.

1 Corinthians 2:9-16 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that Love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by His Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth but which the Holy Ghost teacheth, comparing spiritual things with Spiritual. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are Spiritually discerned. But he that is Spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. For who hath known the Mind of the Lord, that he may instruct Him? but we have the Mind of Christ.

1John 2:26-28 These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you. But the anointing which ye have received of Him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is Truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in Him.

Matthew 10:26-28 Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known. What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops (KJV) (perhaps our Computers ?)

John 16:13 -15. Howbeit when He, the Spirit of Truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for He shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that He shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

  3. Hi again Jim, your message has been on my mind since I read it a few days ago and commented, so I thought I would share with you why, although you probably are aware yourself of what I’m going to share. Not only do people blame God for the results of the evil they sow but when they get ill or when someone dies such as a Baby, they blame Him too.

Everything God made was very good including the womb and sperm but Satan controls this, the fall brought sickness and death Physically and for those who never repent and who reject Jesus till death, spiritually too, they are seperated eternally from God who told Adam he would die if he ate of the forbidden fruit, which showed disobedience. So yes our Bodies wear out and we die when our allotted time comes but we can also cause damage to them, such as with drugs, Alcohol etc or woman when lifting heavy objects, we were not created to do this, Men were, our strength is in our Uterus so we can carry a Child.

I damaged my body through extreme dieting which started in my Teens, the focus in my family was how you looked outside not inside if you wanted to be accepted, Hmmmm, sadly it hasn’t changed much in many peoples thinking today? In the end I was Bulimic and so having bad Nutrition when my bones were being strengthened, my body suffered and today I have Osteoporosis and other problems that affect my bones as well as the chronic disabilities I was Born with. My Birth Mother was an Alcoholic and alcohol in excess can not only cause damage to our own bodies, including the Brain but can also affect the Placenta adversely too, as can drugs, even prescribed ones and smoking too or anything in excess, we need balance in all things, except of course Sin, we just don’t do it!!!

So as you wisely shared Jim, who do we Blame???????

But Thankfully and wonderfully, God is Love and has Compassion on us, as my life shows abundantly.

    Blessings – Anne.

    • A few years ago I recognized that God doesn’t make mistakes, and He doesn’t make junk. We’re the ones who pervert His perfect creation into something less than perfect, and even evil. My heavenly Father mourns our self-inflicted pain, much as He mourned His Son’s pain. Our brethren who willfully engage in sinful, rebellious practices may as well pound on Jesus’ thorny crown. Is that love? I think not
